Katsu Curry
Why Katsu Curry has been a K10 Favourite for Over 25 Years
Some dishes come and go. Others become part of people’s weekly routine.
At K10, our Chicken Katsu Curry has been one of our most popular dishes for more than 25 years - and for good reason.
Crispy panko-coated chicken, rich Japanese curry sauce and perfectly cooked brown rice. Comfort food, done properly.
The curry sauce takes all day
Good katsu curry is all about the sauce.
Our Japanese curry sauce is made slowly throughout the day to create its rich depth of flavour and smooth texture. Slightly sweet, mildly spiced and deeply comforting, it’s the reason so many customers come back for it time and time again.
It is not rushed, and it has not changed much over the years.
What actually is Katsu Curry?
Katsu simply means “cutlet” in Japanese.
Traditionally, it refers to meat or vegetables coated in breadcrumbs and fried until crisp and golden. In Japan, it is commonly served with curry sauce and rice - creating the perfect balance of crunch, richness and warmth.
At K10, our katsu dishes are prepared fresh for every order.
More than just Chicken Katsu
While Chicken Katsu Curry remains our most popular hot dish, we now offer several variations across the menu.
Chicken Katsu Curry with Rice
Our signature dish. Crispy chicken coated in panko breadcrumbs, served with white or brown rice and our home-style Japanese curry sauce.
Prawn Katsu with Rice
Crispy breaded prawns paired with the same rich curry sauce and white or brown rice.
Pumpkin Korokke Katsu Curry
A vegetarian option made with Japanese pumpkin korokke and edamame beans, served with our curry sauce and rice.
Freshly prepared every day
Like all food at K10, our hot dishes are freshly prepared daily in our kitchens.
From the panko coating to the curry sauce itself, attention to detail matters. It is part of what has helped make K10 a go-to lunch spot in the City for over two decades.
Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch, ordering for the office or simply craving something comforting, katsu remains one of those dishes that always delivers.
Why Katsu is Considered Good Luck
There is another reason katsu has become such a beloved dish in Japan.
The word katsu is also a Japanese verb meaning "to win" or "to be victorious". Because of this, katsu is often eaten before important events such as exams, sporting competitions, job interviews and other big occasions as a symbol of good luck and success.
Over the years, it has become something of a tradition - a comforting meal enjoyed before moments that matter. Whether you are preparing for a big presentation, supporting your team during the football season or simply looking for a satisfying lunch, a Chicken Katsu Curry might just bring a little extra luck with it.
